1013: Sweyn Forkbeard invaded England (again) - Ethelred fled to Norway
1016: Death of Ethelred led to the Battle of Ashington (Essex) to decide his successor.

Ruled the South of the Kingdom after losing at Ashington but died shortly afterwards
Cnut - King of England (1016 - 1035)
Won at Ashington - ruled the north of the Kingdom but became monarch of all England on the death of Edmund.
